O holy Sebastian, You other son at a stem, Bound with ropes, Pierced with arrows, venerated In your closed temple of stone. Who was venerated here Before your tower rose up? Whose place did you take? Whose honour did you take over? Almost six hundred years stand the walls Now held up by wooden bars. Will you survive Her chambers of old? Who will buy your temple, And tear it down or restore it Set it up, as a disco Or as a luxurious mansion? Who will offer you To the cold god of profit, For economic growth And raping of the land?
